This is a Post Diploma program.
The program duration is 1 year, with the academic year starting in September and completing in August.
Who should join the course
This course is for individuals who are diploma holders in Mechanical, Manufacturing Technology, Production Technology, Automobile, Tool & Die making and for individuals who would like to make a career in Tool Design.
Eligibility for pursuing this program is a pass in the 3-year Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, Tool & Die making and manufacturing technology, and a maximum age of 30 years.
Metrology, Material Technology and Heat Treatment, Process Planning, Low Cost Automation, Jigs / Fixture and Gauges, Press Tool Design Theory and Mould Design Theory.
Bench work, Work on Machines, Inspection, Heat Treatment. Drafting, Design of Jigs /Fixture and Gauges, Design of Press Tool, Design of Moulds, Proficiency in CAD & Pro-E.
Implementation of production design of Press Tool and Mould based projects.
To enable the Diploma holders to acquire sufficient knowledge in the subjects of Press Tools, Mould Design and other related subjects. To acquire proficiency in the area of Tool Design, especially in the areas of Press Tools for Sheet Metal and Moulds for Plastics.
To facilitate the candidate to acquire adequate shop floor awareness related to tool making. To enable the student to develop greater confidence in tool design by tackling live design problems of industry in production tooling.
This program offers great career opportunities. Students can pursue careers as Designers, Process Engineers, and in Marketing and related fields. Attractive salaries are offered by the industries.
This program gives students exposure to Autocad, ProE, Master CAM, mold flow, Paulson training, and exposure to all conventional machines and tool room machines.
Loan scholarship is available for students hailing from the economically weaker sections of society. The nationalised banks also provide support, through the disbursement of educational loans.
After completing this program and getting sufficient experience, students are eligible to enter a Master's degree program.
Students doing this program can expect employment in Design Centers, Tooling industries and Manufacturing industries.

For this program, students are trained on design analytical software and are also exposed to GD&T.
We have an experienced faculty consisting of instructors who are experts in Tooling design, and with years of industrial experience.
Students have to take up projects during the tenure of the course. Some of the projects are based on live designs of Press Tools, Moulds, Jigs & fixtures and Gauges.
Students have to undergo 170 hours of industrial project work at the end of the semester.
Students have to go for an industrial internship of the duration of two months of external / internal project work.
