The course provides practical and theoretical knowledge to the trainees, to make them well-skilled technicians in the area of Tool Manufacturing. The trainees will be able to apply the skills acquired during the programme to meet the needs of the tool industry.  The programme should be taken up by students who have an interest in mechanical engineering, and especially those who like to make a career in Tool and Die Making stream.


·            Pass in SSLC/+2/PUC/12th Std/Vocational course.

·            Age: Not more than 23 years as at the time of admission.

The course provides practical and theoretical knowledge to the trainee, to make him a technician in the area of Tool Manufacturing. The trainee will be able to apply the skills acquired at the program with immediate effect, while meeting the needs of the tooling industry.

Theory

English, Applied Science, Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Basic Electronics, Computer Programming, Production Technology, Material Technology, Electrical Technology, Strength of Material, Tool Design Theory (Press Tools, Dies, Moulds, Jigs & Fixtures), Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Quality Control & Metrology, Industrial and Production Management, Estimation & Costing, Heat Treatment & Surface Treatment and CNC Technology.

Practical

Bench Work including Advanced Fitting, Machine Work including Conventional and CNC machines. Training in Inspection, Heat Treatment and Maintenance of Ttools. Exposure to Sheet Metal Presses and Plastic Moulding Machine.

Projects

Students undertake various projects during the course of this program. Some of these are Production of Jigs, Fixtures, Gauges, basic Press Tool and Mould-based projects.

This program offers career opportunities in areas such as:

·         Jigs & fixtures and gauges

The salary a student can expect, after completing this program, is approximately Rs. 15,000/- per month.
